Public Design for Equity

We build internal capacity towards inclusion and equity.

Public Design for Equity works to dismantle systems of inequity and racism in the built environment. We do this through consulting, coaching, professional development, and community engagement workshops.

We activate new professional pathways of design and architecture practice. We do this through capacity-building workshops, creating inclusive spaces for people of color, and building community practices.

Public Design for Equity is a woman- and minority-owned practice.

We are going to have to have people committed to doing the right thing, to inclusiveness, as we have in the past to exclusiveness.

Pathways to Equity, Oakland + VIRTUAL

Apply to participate in a leadership experience that brings public interest design and self-reflective practice together to support responsible and equitable social impact design practice. We do this through workshops that teach the historical context of racially motivated policies, center the lived experiences of people of color, focus on personal identity awareness, and create inclusive spaces to share our stories. We engage in best practices for community engagement and put those lessons into direct action in partnership with local community organizations.
